Not gonna lie. All that cap space and Brandon Manning needing a contract has me worried.
I pray they let him walk but then again I can totally see Hextall re-up'ing him for some reason. |

As long as his play remains at his current level I would have no problem signing Manning as a depth 6/7 defenseman if the price is right. |

Is rather see Alt assume that role. I’m not sure what their plan, if any, is for him but I thought he’s played well and he brings that elusive right hand shot.
We’ll see I guess. |

I'm not a Manning hater, but I would much rather prefer to let him walk because, I feel he's holding an NHL roster spot that would be better served for someone like Morin or maybe Myers.
We already have 5 NHL D-man signed thru next year, with Hagg very likely to sign another deal.
If we move a Dman, then I wouldn't mind a 1 or 2 year deal.

Morning Bill -- Will both Bernhardt and Hogberg be playing for Sweeden in the WJC? Or has Bernhardt aged out? |

Bill what is your feeling on re-signing Simmonds?
Any guesses how this is going to work out?
I think to keep him it’s going to take a lot, either in the length of the deal or cap hit. |

Thanks Bill.
It seems like there is a bit of buzz around Hogberg. I can't wait to see him at the WJC.

76, the Flyers lose Parent and Macleish to injuries
87, the Flyers lose a 7 game war in the finals minus Tim Kerr
04, the Flyers are so crippled with injuries on the backend, that Sami Kapanen is forced to play D
And now the Eagles lose Wentz after an 11-2 start.
sigh
Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose. |

If and when Myers and Morin develop and are ready for the NHL full time, Manning won't be holding them back.

Not sure if anyone heard Ray Didinger on Angelo this AM (the only time I listen to Angelo is 7AM on Monday and Thursday when Ray is on), but he pointed out the 1990 Giants. When they won the Superbowl after Simms when down. All Foles has to do is not throw interceptions, and we still have an outside shot.

Manning isn't holding them back right now, but he will be next season. My personal opinion is if the Flyers didn't have 4 defenders under the of 24 already on the blueline, then he would be up right now.
At some point, you have to let them play to see what you have.

I don't see why he would be holding them back next year or any year. He would be signed as a depth 6/7 defenseman. |

My issue isn't as much with Manning as it is with the coach playing him so much. He's an adequate bottom-pair/spare defender, but the coach seems to have a love affair with him, and I don't see that changing any time soon. |

Yes, I agree 100%. He is an NHL D-man, he can be a 6 or 7 on most teams. I also understand, don't agree with, but understand nonetheless, why Hak plays Manning over others and will likely do so with Sanheim now that Gudas is back.
He also takes up a roster spot, which isn't as important this year is it will be the next few years. I think Morin next season can fill the 6/7 role as he acclimates himself to the NHL.
Personally, I would rather move Gudas and sign Manning to another year or so, but I don't think that happens. That has more to do with how much I dislike Gudas now. He's too much of a liability any more. When he is on his game he's great, but he's been too inconsistent and too much of a liability this season. |

If I had my choice to get off this roster it's definitely Gudas. He's a suspension waiting to happen again at any shift. And that handcuffs this team. He's also the one (not Manning) who is blocking Morin. |

They are still ok. Foles isn't the end of the world. They just need to do what most Super Bowl teams do. Hunker down, run the ball more, let their defense make a little noise. |
